Jr Sr High students only: We are remaining in remote learning for tomorrow, Tuesday, December 1st for our 'B' day students due to lack of substitutes to fill requested days off from staff. Life Skills will be on campus as normal. Thank you!

Morton Jr/Sr High School will be in remote learning only tomorrow, Monday 11/30, with only exception being the Life Skills program. We are going with remote learning for tomorrow due to a lack of available staff. The district will update tomorrow before the end of the school day on what the plan is for Tuesday.

Wonderful opportunity to access online library services through Timberland Regional Library!

The PUD just received word this evening that we have access to about $60,000 in CARES Act funds we can use to help PUD customers who have a PUD account balance and who have been impacted by the pandemic (e.g., unemployed, reduction in income, medical bills, childcare expenses due to remote learning arrangements, etc.). The funds must be used by November 27, which effectively means they need customers to apply for this assistance by 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 24.

Today Governor Inslee made a public announcement initiating a rollback of some measures throughout our State. However, the Governor stated that public education is not impacted by these rollbacks. This means that our hybrid instructional model that has been in place in our elementary school and set to begin tomorrow for our secondary students will continue as planned. School will take place on-site tomorrow.

Here is a link to gaining parent access to Canvas. Our Jr/Sr HS parents can also find instructions on how to get access to our online gradebook called Classrooms.

This week the Lewis County Health Officer Dr. Wood issued updated recommendations for county schools on returning. Dr. Wood's new recommendation allows for hybrid models for different grade bands beginning on specific dates.
Grades 1-6 will return to on-site learning in a hybrid model beginning on October 19th. Students will either attend on A- or B-days. Students assigned to A-days will attend on Monday and Thursday. B-day students will attend on Tuesday and Friday. All students will continue with our online format on Wednesdays. Teachers have already begun notifying families/students which group they are assigned to. While elementary students are off-site teachers will have various forms of coursework for them to work on.
The District requested and was granted an exemption to the county timeline for our secondary students. Grades 7-12 will return on November 16th in a hybrid model. Students will be placed into either the A-day or B-day groups. A-day students will attend on-site on Monday and Thursday. B-day students will attend on Tuesday and Friday. Wednesday will follow the same online format already in use. Notification of which groups students are in will be announced at a later date for our secondary students.
November 2nd through the 6th is conference week for the Fall. During conference week there will be no classes for students to attend. Instead, conferences for all grades will be set up with the parent, student, and teacher.

On Friday the County Public Health Officer updated her school recommendations. In this new recommendation a stipulation was added about the forms of on-site schedules we can offer, which was not shared with districts earlier in the week. The District is re-working its Reopening Plan based on this guidance and should be ready to announce our plan this week, or early next week.

ES: School pictures are available for pickup at the elementary office for those who had their pictures taken. Office is open M-F, 8-3pm.
